StrongJamb Armor Plate® DIY Kit
Reinforce your door jamb in under 30 minutes.

Why doors get kicked in, and how this stops it
Your deadbolt isn't the weak point. It's bolted into three-quarters of an inch of soft pine that splits with one kick. The Armor Plate® fixes that.
Stops the most common break-in
Most break-ins are a kick, not a picked lock. The Armor Plate makes your jamb hold.
Anchored into your rough framing
A standard strike plate's short screws stop in the jamb. The Armor Plate's 3-inch screws pass through it into the rough framing of your house.
Invisible once installed
It sits flush in the mortise (the shallow pocket cut into the jamb) and paints right over. No bars, no bulky hardware.
Keeps your lock
Works with your existing deadbolt, smart lock, or keypad. No new door, no new lock.
Before, during, after
Here's what changes on your door in under 30 minutes.
BEFORE
A standard strike plate, held by short screws in soft pine.
DURING
One pass with a router and the included jig.
AFTER
Quarter-inch steel, anchored into the framing. Paint over it and it disappears.
Watch it in action
Real tests, real installs, a real customer.
A quarter inch of steel, hidden in your jamb.
One kick. Same kick.
It took a pickup truck.
Why it holds.
Installed on my own front door.
Install it yourself
If you can use a drill, you can do this in an afternoon.
1
Unscrew your old strike plate.
2
Clamp on the jig and make one pass with a router.
3
Drop in the Armor Plate and drive the 3-inch screws into the framing.
4
Done. Paint over it if you like.
You'll need a router
The install uses a basic trim router (the power tool), which isn't included. Most hardware stores sell one for about $25, or any handyman can install the kit for you in about 15 minutes. Here's an affordable option at Harbor Freight.

Full specs from the makers
This DIY Kit includes everything a homeowner needs to install one door. More plates can be purchased separately.
Kit includes:
- Router Bit - Made by Amana
- 3D Printed Jig This is the 3D printed version of our router jig. Use for a perfect 1/4 inch deep mortise into your door jamb. Our 3D printed jig is designed particularly for personal/home use in situations where you only have a few doors to install the Armor Plate on.
- Armor Plate - Our Armor Plate product is machined from a .25 inch or (6.35 mm) thick, solid steel plate. It's intentionally thick for increased security and to help with some adjustment for poorly hung doors or hacked out mortises that look bad. Sized at 2.75 x 2.125 inches or (70 x 54 mm), our Armor Plate beefs up existing decorative strike plates to make your door significantly more secure, but also to make it look and operate like you always wanted it to. It has a Cerakote finish, which is a thin film ceramic coating to protect the steel and give you a long service life to your new door Armor.
- 3" Screws - Black or Satin Nickel matching the Armor plate
- decorative strike plate with screw to match

A router is required and NOT included in this kit. You'll need a router (the power tool) to install the Armor Plate. If you don't already own one, the Harbor Freight Drill Master 1/4 in. 2.4 Amp Trim Router is an affordable option for a one-time install. You can purchase it directly from this third-party retailer - we don't sell or ship it ourselves, just pointing you to a straightforward option.
Questions? We've got answers.
Will it fit my door?
The Armor Plate® fits standard residential entry doors with a wood jamb and a deadbolt. If your door is unusual, call us at 937-902-5927 and we'll tell you before you buy.
Can I install it myself?
Yes. If you can use a drill, you can install it in under 30 minutes using the included jig and a basic trim router. Watch the install above. Prefer not to? Any handyman can do it in about 15 minutes.
Do I need a new lock or a new door?
No. The Armor Plate works with the door and the deadbolt you already have.
Does it work with smart locks and keypads?
Yes. It reinforces the jamb your lock closes into, so it works with standard deadbolts, smart locks, and keypad locks.
How many doors does one kit cover?
One kit reinforces one door. The jig and router bit are reusable, so for more doors you only need extra Armor Plates.
How long does shipping take?
Kits ship from our shop in Dayton, Ohio, and usually arrive within about a week.
What customers say
Trusted by homeowners and businesses in Dayton.
That's why I got StrongJamb Armor Plate, to put a barrier between me and the criminals that live outside.
Prospeed professionally handled the procurement of a sliding door and 2 sliding windows for my Centerville condo (I am an out-of-town owner) and installed them with me on site. Joe Pollard and his crew performed the work and left the condo in good shape. Greg Pollard made sure I was satisfied. I recommend Prospeed for door and window replacement.
Kim is absolutely one of the greatest people I've ever met. The passion and care that they put into their product is second to none and we are truly blessed to know them.
These guys are amazing! If I could give them 10 stars I would!
