Smart locks are good products and we are not asking you to give one up. But every electronic device shares the same failure modes: batteries die, wifi drops, subscriptions lapse, firmware gets exploited.
Steel has none of those. It does not update, does not phone home, does not need a password, and works exactly as well during a power outage as on any other night.

What is the StrongJamb Armor Plate?
A quarter-inch steel plate that mortises flush into your door jamb and anchors to the studs behind it, so the frame holds when a door is kicked. Patented, made in Dayton, Ohio.
How is the Armor Plate different from the Original StrongJamb System?
The Armor Plate is the compact retrofit - it reinforces the strike side of an existing jamb in about twenty minutes. The Original StrongJamb System is our full custom jamb, built for hard-to-fix, historical, or non-standard doors where a whole reinforced frame is the right answer. Does it work with my smart lock?
Yes. The Armor Plate isn't a lock and doesn't replace one - it's the steel foundation your lock bolts into. It accommodates smart locks and electronic systems better than competitors, so you keep locking your door from your phone.
Do I need a router to install it?
Yes - a router (the power tool) is required to cut the mortise, and it is not included in the kit. If you hang doors for a living you already have one; otherwise it's a common tool sold separately.
What's in the DIY Kit?
The Armor Plate, the 3D-printed jig, the router bit, and clear instructions - everything except the router itself. Your first purchase includes the kit; after that you can order plates on their own.
Will it be visible on my door?
No. It mortises in flush and paints over, and it's finished in Cerakote - the coating used on firearms - in black, silver, white, or bronze. It's an aesthetic upgrade, not an eyesore.

Dayton, Ohio. We machine and ship every plate ourselves. Family owned, made in the USA.
What is the lead time?
In most cases you can have your plates shipped within a week. If there is a delay, we will let you know. Expedited shipping is also available at an additional charge.
What is the shipping cost?
Shipping is free for the Armor Plate Kit, which should be your first purchase. For additional products after the kit, shipping charges will be posted when you make your order.
Can you return the plate?
Yes, but it must remain unused and never installed, and be returned in its original packaging. You will receive a full refund after we receive it. You would pay the shipping for the return.
What if I don't have a router?
We recommend you look at the many types of routers on the Harbor Freight website - there's a link to the site on the purchase page. You can find them ranging from $30 to $400. Depending on your need and how many times you think you'll use it, that determines which one you should buy. A $30 router costs about the same as renting one, and having a trim router on hand is very handy.
