The StrongJamb Armor Plate is a quarter-inch steel plate mortised flush into your door jamb and anchored to the wall structure with three-inch screws. It turns the weakest part of your entry into the strongest. Then it disappears — painted in, flush with the frame, nothing bolted to the outside of your house announcing that you were worried.

What it costs and what it takes

  • Armor Plate — $34.99. The plate itself. If you already own a router and a jig, this is all you need.
  • DIY Kit — $89.00. Plate, jig, and everything needed to cut the mortise cleanly the first time. Most people should start here.
  • Time — about an afternoon for your first door. Under thirty minutes once you have done one.
  • Skills — a drill and a router. If you have hung a shelf and used a router once, you can do this. Free video walkthroughs are on our YouTube channel.

Not a DIY person?

That is a completely reasonable answer. If you are in the Dayton, Ohio area, we will install it for you — call Joe at 937-902-5927. If you are elsewhere, print our contractor spec sheet and hand it to whoever already works on your house. It is a twenty-minute job for anyone who hangs doors for a living.

Why homeowners choose steel over electronics

Smart locks are genuinely good products and we are not asking you to give one up. But every electronic security device shares the same failure modes: batteries die, wifi drops, subscriptions lapse, firmware gets exploited, and the company can go out of business and take the app with it.

Steel has none of those. It does not update, does not phone home, does not need a password, and works exactly as well during a power outage as it does on any other night. Install it once and stop thinking about it.

After a break-in

If your door has already been kicked, the Armor Plate does double duty. It repairs the splintered jamb and reinforces it at the same time, so you are not paying to replace a whole frame. It also cleans up years of chewed-up wood from previous hardware and amateur installs.

Little but mighty!

The Armor Plate is a formidable first line of defense for any ordinary, industry standard jamb!

Using our Original StrongJamb System as a guide, and our combined fifty years of door installation experience, we invented a way to retrofit our original strike plate reinforcement in the original system into this smaller more versatile reinforcement plate. Even after a break in, our Armor Plate fixes and secures the opening.

We have spent our years observing how doors fail, and what we noticed was that they tend to break at the deadbolt and latch on the door jamb/frame. That’s when we began to devise a way to retrofit the strike reinforcement plate in our StrongJamb System into a very similar plate that can be used on it’s own on any door, and can be installed by anyone willing to pick up a drill and a router. That’s how the Armor Plate was born!

Another thing we really wanted to improve was how the The Armor Plate looks. Maybe you've noticed that doors with security measures attached, are Ugly! Not so with the StrongJamb Armor Plate! And, the strength surpasses any attached security devise on the market today.  Patent pending, StrongJamb Armor Plate is a quarter inch steel plate that is machined to accommodate for most 2-1/4 inch  residential security bolts and door handles, making this a versatile, customizable product for all decorative and functional needs. The holes located in the rear of the plate allow for additional 3 inch or longer length screws, which transfers blunt force toward the center of the structural part of the wall, rather than the edge.    A truly integrated security door frame plate, which is quickly mortised into the jamb, becoming the reinforcement that you would expect from a security door.  The process is quick and easy to install with a simple jig and router. Not only does it add a considerable amount of strength to the existing jamb, it also gives you extra adjustment for a smooth locking door, and it can clean up years of scared ugly jambs that have been abused with many sets of hardware and amateur installations.
