The install, start to finish

Six steps. Under an hour the first time, about twenty minutes once you have the rhythm.

1

Remove the strike plates

Both the deadbolt and latch strike plates.

2

Clamp the jig

The 3D-printed jig sets your depth and position so you are not eyeballing a mortise.

3

Rout the mortise

One pass, matched to the plate thickness.

4

Set the plate flush

Level with the jamb face. That is what makes it invisible once painted.

5

Drive the long screws

Three inches or longer, into the framing. This is the step that does the work.

6

Reinstall and check the swing

The plate adds adjustment range to fix a door that never latched cleanly.

What you will need

Tools you already have

A router with a straight bit, a drill and driver, and clamps. That is the whole list.

The DIY Kit - $89

Everyone's first purchase includes the DIY Kit: the plate, the 3D-printed jig, the router bit, and clear instructions to fit it cleanly the first time.

Need a router?

The DIY Kit includes the jig and the router bit - the router itself (the power tool) is not included and is required to install. If you don't already own one, the Harbor Freight Drill Master 1/4 in. 2.4 Amp Trim Router is an affordable option that gets the job done for a one-time install.

We don't sell or ship this - it's just a straightforward option if you need one.

Smart-lock ready

Keep the smart lock. Reinforce what it locks into.

The Armor Plate accommodates smart locks and electronic systems better than any competitor, so your client keeps locking the door from their phone - now on a jamb that actually holds.

Already in the frame? Add the plate.

Whether it's your own home or a customer's, you're already right there - during a hang, a rekey, or a break-in repair. The DIY Kit gives you the jig, the router bit, and the plate, so the very first mortise comes out clean. About twenty minutes per door once you have the rhythm, and the jamb your family walks through every day finally holds.

It also cleans up jambs chewed up by years of hardware, instead of replacing the whole frame - and it fits the lock you already own, smart locks included.

Prospeed professionally handled the procurement of a sliding door and 2 sliding windows for my Centerville condo (I am an out-of-town owner) and installed them with me on site. Joe Pollard and his crew performed the work and left the condo in good shape. Greg Pollard made sure I was satisfied. I recommend Prospeed for door and window replacement.
